ESPOO, FINLAND — A groundbeaking initiative has been announced to harness the power of artificial intelligence in reducing traffic emissions and advancing Espoo’s ambitious 2030 carbon neutrality target.

The AI in Mobility Challenge seeks innovative solutions that leverage artificial intelligence and data analytics to revolutionize transportation systems and significantly reduce the city’s carbon footprint.

This opportunity is brought to you by Espoo Mobility Lab, the Innovation Challenge Engine for Cities, Finnish AI Region (FAIR, EDIH), and Nokia Espoo Innovation Garage, who are seeking visionary startups and SMEs to pioneer the future of smart and sustainable mobility.

  • Phase 2: Expert Mentorship | May 9, 2025 Join our intensive coaching session at Nokia Espoo Innovation Garage. Receive personalized guidance from industry experts to refine your approach.

  • Phase 3: Development Sprint | May-June 2025 Build and enhance your solution with ongoing support from our technical advisors. Access specialized resources to overcome development challenges.

  • Phase 4: Showcase & Evaluation | June 17, 2025 Present your finished solution at our Demo Day at Nokia Espoo Innovation Garage. Demonstrate real-world impact to our panel of judges.

  • Phase 5: Winner Announcement | June 18, 2025 Celebration of innovation excellence with the announcement of the €10,000 development grant recipient.

  • Phase 6: Real-World Implementation | Autumn 2025 Selected solution will be piloted in Espoo, providing valuable market validation and city-scale impact data.
