Finnish AI Region (FAIR) has published an accessible information and cybersecurity guide for small and medium-sized enterprises looking to implement artificial intelligence safely.
The free guide addresses the SME sector’s growing need for clear and easily applicable information in situations where dedicated IT security personnel may not be available.
Finnish AI Region experts remind us that SMEs are subject to the same data protection requirements as larger companies, but have far fewer resources at their disposal.
The guide is available in Finnish and English.
Finnish AI Region’s guide doesn’t burden readers with technical jargon, but focuses on measures that SMEs can implement immediately. Effective cybersecurity doesn’t necessarily require massive investments, but rather the intelligent allocation of available resources based on an SME’s risk assessment.
A significant portion of the guide examines the security challenges that arise when implementing artificial intelligence. AI systems process large amounts of data and require connections to multiple data sources, which expands potential attack vectors.
The guide has been compiled by Finnish AI Region experts Martti Asikainen (Haaga-Helia), Solja Sulkunen (Business Helsinki), Jussi Rantsi (Aalto University and University of Helsinki), and Jenni Selosmaa (City of Espoo). Support was also provided by Marie Skavø-Sinisalo from South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK).
