Nordic Investment Bank joins lender group as Verda's funding round grows to €136m

NIB’s own press release describes a standalone €22 million loan to Verda Cloud Oy. Verda’s own press release, issued the same day, describes NIB as one of five banks whose participation extended its funding round from €100 million to €136 million. The two accounts are reported here as published, without combining their figure.

Verda, a Helsinki-based AI cloud infrastructure provider, said on 10 July that its most recent funding round has grown from €100 million to €136 million, after the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) joined a group of financial institutions backing the company.

The round’s debt financing now includes Nordea, OP, Danske, Norion and NIB, anchored by equity led by Lifeline Ventures with participation from byFounders, Tesi, Varma and other investors, the company said.

NIB’s own press release, also dated 10 July, describes the financing on its own terms: a standalone “4-year EUR 22 million InvestEU-backed loan” signed with Verda Cloud Oy, the company’s Finnish operating entity, earmarked for the acquisition of GPUs and related networking and storage equipment. NIB’s release does not mention the other four lenders named in Verda’s announcement, and does not reference a round growing to €136 million.

Verda’s release does not mention a €22 million figure, a four-year term, or the InvestEU programme by name. Both press releases were issued on 10 July 2026, but neither refers to the other’s specific figures, so this article reports each account as published rather than combining them into a single number.

Time to expand

Verda said the financing supports its product development and international expansion.

The company, founded in 2020 by Ruben Bryon and rebranded from DataCrunch in November 2025, describes itself as vertically integrated, managing physical servers, data centres, networking and the software tools developers use to build AI applications. Its Finnish data centres run on 100% renewable energy.

“AI is becoming critical infrastructure, and our goal is to build the platform frontier AI teams can depend on as they scale. We’re grateful to have such strong backing from reputable partners as we continue growing to meet that demand,” said Ruben Bryon, founder and chief executive of Verda.

Verda is a Nvidia Preferred Partner, one of a limited number of companies with that designation, and named ExpressVPN and Magnific among its customers in the announcement. Separate company posts from earlier in the year have also named 1X, Nokia and Freepik as customers.

A fast-growing revenue base

The extension follows a period of rapid growth for Verda. The company said in June that it had reached an annualised revenue run rate of around €87.6 million, having grown tenfold in 18 months, and has described its operations as cash-flow positive.

It employs more than 130 people across over 30 nationalities and has said it plans to double its headcount during 2026. The company has also pointed to milestones including a first Asia-Pacific office in Taipei, a deployment involving Nvidia’s Rubin chip architecture, and an expanded collaboration with server maker Supermicro.

Before the current round, Verda had raised a €12 million seed round in 2024 and a €55 million Series A in September 2025, led by byFounders with participation from Skaala, Varma and Tesi, according to the company’s own announcements at the time.
