But what is an EDIH?

European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) are part of the EU’s new flagship initiative Digital Europe program. They act as service centers that accelerate digital investments and digitization of SMEs. The goal is to make new technologies more widely and quickly available to companies and public services.

EDIHs act as non-profit service centers that accelerate digital investments and especially the digitalization of the business field, but also of the public sector. In practice, EDIHs are consortia based on existing organizations and activities that support the goals of the EDIH concept. Most of the time, however, the EDIH consortium itself is a new association that offers a new kind of service package.

The Europe-wide network enables customers to search for suitable, specialized services from all over Europe. As a result of the high-level competition held in 2021-2022, four European innovation hubs will be established in Finland. The choices were made by the European Commission with the support of external experts.
