IQM Quantum Computers has been selected to build a quantum computer for Finland’s LUMI AI Factory, in an order that exceeds the company’s entire 2025 revenue and follows its debut as the first European quantum firm listed on a major US exchange.
CSC and local energy company Loiste have signed an agreement to channel waste heat from the LUMI AI Factory — Europe’s largest AI supercomputer facility, under construction in Kajaani — into the city’s district heating network from 2027. The deal extends a model already in use for the existing LUMI supercomputer, which has supplied roughly a fifth of the city’s district heat since 2021.
A first-of-its-kind study commissioned by CSC – IT Center for Science found that Finnish companies using high-performance computing services, including the LUMI supercomputer, achieved returns of 11 to 20 times their investment, as business use of the infrastructure doubles year on year.
The Kumpula Campus hub provides AI research expertise, high-performance computing support, and a collaborative community space — all free of charge for academics and start-ups.
